William Gambiza brings with him a wealth of experience and expertise given his accomplished and passionate mining investment professional journey spanning 18 years of mineral asset management and investment banking.
William has held several senior positions in the mining industry and mining finance sectors, developing competencies in mining related valuations, modelling, economics, strategy, and transaction experience. These have fostered his unique and comprehensive understanding of the mining industry and a disciplined approach to sustainable investment.
William started his career as a mining engineer with HCCL, and later worked for other mining companies including Zambezi Gas where he served as a projects mining engineer, and Marange Resources as the mining manager before migrating to mining private equity and venture capital space.
He was the chief investments officer – Metal & Mining for Unchartered Group and worked as the fund manager for Fidelity Gold Refiners.
William rejoined HCCL in November 2023 as a consultant responsible for business restructuring and development and was later appointed Acting Managing Director on 1 February 2024.
He also serves as vice chairman of the boards at Harare Quarry.
William is a holder of a BSc Honours Degree in Mining Engineering, MSc (Eng) in Valuation of Mineral Assets, MSc in Strategic Management, Investment Banking Analyst (IBA) Programme, and Certified Business Valuation Analyst (CVA). He is currently studying towards a PhD in Mineral Economics with the University of Zambia and is married to Tatenda, and the couple has two children.
